According to China Customs, China exported 8.07 million mt of finished steel during May, up 7.0% MoM and 49.2% YoY. Imports during May totaled 1.22 million mt, down 6.2% MoM and 2.4% YoY. China’s finished steel exports for May hit a new record high and even beat Steelease’s forecast, with strong exports driven largely by the continuous RMB depreciation and higher profits for exports compared to domestic sales.
